Howard Alan Randlett passed away September 16th 2025, surrounded by friends and family on the Hospice unit of Middlesex Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Ford) Randlett, sister Esther Randlett, children Andrea (John) Piekarski, Jason (Gretchen) Randlett, Ryan Ford and grandchild Brytani (Jared) Brown, along with numerous long-time friends. He is predeceased by his sister Ethel Demarest.

Howard was born on May 23rd 1946 to Earl and Hazel Randlett in Stamford, CT as the beloved younger brother to twin sisters, Ethel and Esther. Howard left his hometown to enter the Armed Services, serving for many years in the Army both here and abroad. While in Berlin, Germany, he met his first wife (Bette) and had a daughter Andrea.

Howard (Randy) returned stateside and settled in North Haven, CT, where he had his son, Jason.  He worked for Pinkerton as an investigator, later opened his own firm, Industrial Investigations, and served as an Auxiliary Policeman with the NHPD.

Howard (Uncle Howard) then went to work for Bob's clothing store as Director of Loss Prevention. During this time, it was not uncommon to see him with his crock-pot feeding construction crews or security personnel of the many stores.

While at Bob's he met the love of his life, his wife Barbara (Ford) Randlett, and was blessed to become a part of Ryan Ford's life. He relocated to Middlefield, where he became an active member of the community and was often seen at Trackside Deli or the Senior Center. He continued his military connections through his entire life, becoming a VFW member and chaplain.

Howard (Grumpy) was a true believer in family, and was loved by all. He became a Justice of the Peace, where he was asked to officiate many ceremonies, including his daughter's (Andrea) and granddaughter's (Brytani) weddings.

He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying many activities ranging from fishing to golfing.  Some of his favorite memories included the many fishing trips across the country with his friends and family, and attending the Masters Tournament with his son Jason. He loved to watch his son Ryan run track, and was so proud to watch him compete in the Boston Marathon.

Most of all Howard will be remembered for his Love Language---Food. He loved to share recipes, teaching any and all how to make his beloved favorites. He delivered meals to his friends and family and only ever asked that you "return his Tupperware". He put his heart in every meal he cooked or served and was often known to 'fire' his kitchen staff (allow them to sit and watch) while he worked his magic.

Howard left a legacy of recipes for us to follow. Not only how to make the perfect sauce, but how to be a great Father, Grandfather, Husband, and Friend. A Burial with military honors will be held Monday November 10th at 12 p.m. at State Veterans Cemetery on Bow Ln. in Middletown. His family asks that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to a charity of your choice.

A special thank you to the nurses and staff of Middlesex Hospital unit 7 South, your support allowed us to spend quality time with our dad/grandfather/husband and friend. We will always cherish the memories we were able to make during his time in Hospice.
