Helen Louise (Lis) Soja, 95, of Moodus, wife of the late Louis J. Soja Sr. died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday Jan.28, 2026. She was born in Middletown, daughter of the late Julia (Gasior)) and Stanley Lis. She was pre-deceased by her brother Walter and sisters Ceila and Janet.

She is survived by her five sons, Louis Jr., Donald, Gary (Darlene), Alan and Bryan. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild as well as several nieces and nephews.

Helen started working in the Hale-Ray cafeteria and then in the elementary school as a cashier. She then worked at Sally's Daycare for many years, stopping to take care of her last grandchild.

Helen loved sitting in the sun, gardening, and going to the casino. She also enjoyed going to the East Haddam Senior Center.

The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Chestelm for the great care they gave mom.

Her Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday February 7th.at 11 a.m. at St. Bridget of Kildare Church. Family and friends may gather prior to the service from 10 to 11a.m.at St. Bridget Church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to the East Haddam Senior Center.
