Helen (Sypega) Bonfoey, 88, of East Haddam, wife of the late Irving Brainard and late Everett Bonfoey, died Monday, November 18, 2024, peacefully at her home.

Helen was born in Middletown, daughter of the late, Frank and Julia (Czaja) Sypega.  Prior to her retirement, Helen was last employed in the accounting department at Whelan Engineering. Helen was a lifetime communicant of Saint Bridget of Kildare Church, Saint John Paul II Parish.  She was a member of the Ladies Guild and Rosary Society.  Helen was a member of  the East Haddam Historical Society.  She also volunteered at Chestelm Rehabilitation Center for many years.

Helen loved her cats, observing wild birds at her feeders, gardening, and watching the Uconn women's basketball team.

Helen is survived many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, along with several step grandchildren, and her best friend since childhood Celia Golub.  She was predeceased by a sister, Theresa Ventres.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held Monday November 25th at 10:30 am at Saint Bridget of Kildare Church, 75 North Moodus Road, Moodus.  Friends may gather at the church prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 am.  Memorial contributions may be sent to East Haddam Food Bank, P.O.
