Helen (Aubin) Ackert, 87, formerly of Cromwell, died Thursday November 30, 2023 at Portland Care and Rehabilitation Center, Portland. She was born in New Britian, the daughter of the late Wilfred A. and Helen (Rook) Aubin.  Prior to her retirement, Helen designed and made wedding dresses and later was a cook at Mama's Restaurant.

She is survived by her sons, William Russo and his wife Kathy, and Sebastian James Russo and his wife Amy; brother, William Allair; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; also several niece and nephews. Helen was predeceased by a son, Merle "Dolph" W. Ackert, III; and her sisters, Pamela Ziemba and Winifred Grover.

Funeral services will be held Thursday (Dec. 7th) at 11 a.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St.., Middletown.  Burial will be in Mica Hill Cemetery, Durham.
