Gretchel Ann (Schaefer) Augur, formerly of Middlefield, Connecticut, passed away at John Dempsey Hospital.  She is survived by her husband, Robert Augur.  Gretchel was born in Middletown and raised in Middle Haddam, Connecticut. She graduated from Ona M. Wilcox School of Nursing.  She took great pride in her forty-plus year career as a registered nurse.  She loved the NY Yankees, all of Dickens' works, and the academic accomplishments of her grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she is survived by her children Charles Augur of Durham (and his friend Holly Pearce) and Carolyn Augur of Simsbury (and her partner Matthew Lubinsky), and her two grandchildren Brooke and Charles Birbara.  Her surviving family includes her sister and brother-in-law Suzanne and William Dufford of Glastonbury, her brother Terry Schaefer, as well as dearest friend Loretta Butler of Middletown.    She was predeceased by her sister Donna Schaefer.
