Gerald P. Violette Jr. 74 of Higganum, beloved husband of Audrey (Nosal) Violette, passed away Tuesday February 13, 2024 at Middlesex Hospital. He was born in Hartford on February 13, 1950, son of the late Helen Violette Montgomery and Gerald P. Violette Sr.

Gerry was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany. He retired from Pratt and Whitney after 33 wonderful years, where he formed many life-long friendships. In addition to his career, he happily served in the Haddam Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years, and was honored as a life member.

Gerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He adored his family and found time for them whenever he could. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, attending his grandchildren's events, and sharing epic stories around the holiday table.  He was always there. Gerry was the first person you'd call if you needed advice, and he'd always answer the phone.

Gerry had many hobbies, including craftsmanship. He could build anything, from a kitchen island, to making fully customized birdhouses.  His creativity always kept him busy. When he wasn't busy working on one of his many projects, Gerry could often be spotted at various car shows around the state.  He had a love of classic cars, especially the '57 Chevy, and enjoyed meeting other car enthusiasts, and compiling his wish list.

Gerry will probably be most remembered for his unfailing positivity.  He firmly believed in looking at the bright side of every situation.  He often ended conversations with "keep smiling" a mantra that truly encompasses how he lived his life.

Gerry is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Audrey; daughters, Stephanie Fraleigh and her husband Paul, Courtney Schiavone and her husband Nick, Megan Keane and her husband Anthony; grandchildren, Alyssa Fraleigh, Joey, Tyler, Brianna and Luke Schiavone, and Rachel Keane; brother, Paul Violette and stepbrother, Bruce Montgomery. He was predeceased by his grandson Zach Fraleigh, his brother Steve and sister Linda.

Per his wishes, funeral services and burial at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown are private.
