Georgianna (Sallak) Czaja, 93 born on the 4th of July 1931 was a lifelong resident of Higganum, wife for 65 years to the late Walter A. Czaja, Jr., died Sunday April 13, 2025 peacefully at her home.

She was born in Higganum, the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Malus) Sallak. Prior to her retirement, Georgianna managed the cafeteria at Xavier High School for 39 years.  She was one of the founding members of MYARC in Middletown creating opportunities for Down Syndrom children.

She was the matriarch of her family and is survived by daughters, Mary Ann Burkhart of Sterling, MA, Margaret Sprague and her husband Robert of Middletown; sons, Mark Czaja of  Greenville, WV, Matthew Czaja and his wife Donna of Middletown, and John Czaja and his wife Mary of Amston; ten grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Susan Czaja; sister, Edith Wiknik; brothers, Joseph Sallak, Jr. and Frank Sallak.

Her Funeral Liturgy will be held on Wednesday (April 16th) 1 p.m. at St. Peter's Church, Higganum.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Middletown.
