Obituary

George Paul Lajoie, 89, of Middletown (formally of Cromwell and Vero Beach, FL), beloved husband of Jacqueline (Ouellette) Lajoie passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025

George was born August 10, 1936 in Edmonston New Brunswick, Canada.  At 24 years old, George moved to Connecticut to create a better life for himself and his family. George was a fireman at Pratt & Whitney for 30 years, until his retirement in 1992. He then enjoyed his retirement years in Vero Beach, Fl until 2021, when he and Jacqueline moved back to CT to be closer to family members. George loved working around the house and doing odd jobs painting, wallpaper, carpentry, etc. When he wasn't working, he usually went shopping, traveling, cooking or dining out, as he enjoyed eating good food. His most memorable summer vacation was camping with his family along the coast of Maine, sitting around the campfire eating freshly caught steamers and clams. George was always excited and looked forward to spending time visiting with his family and friends. George was an entertainer, kidding with anyone he encountered, trying to make them laugh.

Besides his wife of 67 years, George is survived by his daughter Sandra (Peter) Etzel of Middletown, two sons, Michael (Lisa) Lajoie of Barre VT and Douglas (Lynnae) Lajoie of Niantic. Eight grandchildren (Aaron (AJ), Alyssa, Kevin, Taylor, Patricia, Melinda, Candice and Steven) and seven great grandchildren (Cameron, Harper, Kira, Amelia, Katherine, Gerow and Darren).
