George Louis Costas, 64, passed away on Tuesday July 25, 2023 at Backus Hospital in Norwich.

George was active in the Middletown community having owned a restaurant 'Frankies' and then a commercial landscaping and cleaning enterprise until being diagnosed with cancer in 2012. He was born in Hartford in 1959, the beloved son of Joan and Peter Costas whom he resided with in West Hartford until adulthood.

George was the devoted and loving father of Ashley, Zachary, Ryan and Melissa and grandfather to five grandchildren who will miss him greatly along with Dorinda Lapman, his companion of many years. He is also survived by his sisters, Carol Raywood and Barbara Liebig.

During the long years of his courageous battle with cancer, the Smilow Cancer Unit at Yale was always there with assistance and encouragement and his family is grateful for all their many years of help. His family would also like to thank the Sheltering Arms Residence in Norwich for making his last months safe and comfortable.

A Memorial Service for George will be held on Saturday (July 29th) at 1:30 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown. Internment will be private.  Visitation will be from 1 to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
