Genevieve E. "Penny" Dickinson, age 90, passed away on November 21, 2025, at the Summit Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Plantsville, CT, after a long illness.

Born on October 23, 1935, in Middletown, CT, Penny was the daughter of the late Genevieve M. (Bride) Mann and Edward F. Mann. She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore P. "Ted" Dickinson; her brothers, William Mann and James Mann; and her grandson, Michael Dickinson. She leaves behind her children: Sharon Dickinson (Ken Meltz), Susan Budris (Ed), Mark Dickinson, and Marcia Arneson; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandsons; her sister-in-law, Patricia Mann; and many adored nieces and nephews.

Penny began her career as a registered nurse, a calling she pursued with care and compassion until shortly after the birth of her third child.

In her prime, Penny was actively involved in community life. She contributed her talents to the Daughters of the American Revolution and to Cheshire's Women's Club, Garden Club, Epiphany Parish, Senior Center, and Darcey School.

Creative by nature, Penny poured her enthusiasm into crafting—especially sewing, macramé, knitting, and crocheting afghans and baby clothes for family, friends and church fund raisers. She delighted in decorating and cooking for the holidays, and she cherished any opportunity to "cut a rug" on the dance floor with Ted. An avid reader, she had a remarkable knack for predicting the endings of mystery novels. Penny also had the Irish "gift of the gab"—her warmth, humor, and storytelling lit up the room. She remained a devoted fan of classic films and their stars throughout her life.

Penny was especially proud of having taught herself to play the piano by listening in on her brother Jimmy's lessons as a child. She continued to play daily, finding joy in music for as long as her health allowed.

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass at Saint Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire, Connecticut, on December 13th at noon. Burial will take place privately.
