Freddie Bruce Mitchell, 70, of Middletown, Connecticut, formerly of Bridgeport, Ct passed away on September 12, 2026, at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. Born on February 7, 1956, Freddie was the son of the late Henry Junior Mitchell and Alma Jean (Rucker) Mitchell. He worked as a chef for The Bridgeport Rescue Mission in Bridgeport, CT, where he shared his passion for cooking with the community. He was also a faithful member of Antrim Baptist Church in Antrim, New Hampshire. Freddie is survived by his son, James D. Howell of New Haven, and his brothers, Charles Mitchell and his wife Maria, Keith Mitchell, and James Mitchell, all of Middletown. And a host of nieces and nephews, great-nephews and great-nieces, and grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at a later date.
