Florence (Rame)
Courtright
May 26, 1936 — Apr 3, 2024
Middletown
Florence (Rame) Courtright of Haddam died peacefully with her family by her side at Middlesex Hospital on April 3, 2024.
Born in Middletown in 1936 to the late Benedict and Teresa (Pessina) Rame, Flo lived most of her life in Middletown until moving to Haddam with her beloved husband Joseph Courtright, who predeceased her.
A collector of antiques, a hobby she and Joe shared, Flo took pride in their historic colonial home and many vintage collections. Flo was an exceptional cook. She loved to host holidays and entertain, sharing traditional Italian recipes from her childhood. Many family parties were enjoyed by all who loved her.
Flo had a rewarding career at Eversource (Northeast Utilities) for 46 years. After her "retirement" she continued to work an additional 18 years as a part-time contractor.
Besides her husband, Flo was predeceased by brothers Emanuel Rame, Eugene Rame, Sr., and sister, Mary Rame. Flo was also predeceased by her loving partner whom she met later in life, Dr. Salvatore Santella of Easton, CT. Together, they enjoyed the theater, traveling, and each other's families.
Flo is survived by sisters Nancy Bassos of South Windsor, Elaine Desjardins of Middletown and brother David Rame (Linda) of Middletown, sisters-in-law Alice Rame of Newington and Louise Rame of Boylston, MA as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Flo also leaves behind her beloved stepson J. Christopher Courtright (Mary), step granddaughter Joanne Courtright Lund (Craig) and family. In addition, she leaves Katherine Santella Fitzpatrick (John), who was like a daughter to her, and family.
A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at St. Peter Church, 30 St. Peter's Ln., Higganum, CT at 10 am followed by a Mass at 11 am. The burial will be held at Shaillorville Tylerville Cemetery, Rt. 154, Haddam, CT.
