Evelyn M. (Clark) Smigel, 83, of Middletown, formerly of Cromwell wife of the late Joseph E. Smigel, Sr., died Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Middlesex Hospital.

Evelyn was born in Meriden, daughter of the late, Ernest Edgar Clark, Sr. and Edna (Bauchman) Clark. Prior to her retirement, Evelyn worked alongside her husband, Joe, managing the Smigel's Farm greenhouse in Cromwell.

Evelyn is survived by three sons, Joseph Smigel Jr. and his wife Laura Bixby of TN, James Smigel and his wife Shirlon of Durham, John Smigel of Middlefield, a daughter, Sandra Paskiewicz and her husband Michael of Middletown, a sister, Elizabeth Benton of WA, a brother, Ernest E, Clark, Jr. and his wife Gail of NC, five grandchildren, Justin and Larissa Paskiewicz, Audra and William Smigel, Daniel Smigel, three great grandchildren, Michael Johnson, Lilith Paskiewicz, Kali Buckley and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a son, William Smigel.

Evelyn was a member of the Polish Falcons of Middletown and made many friends there throughout the years.  She loved to cook for any event and enjoyed collecting dolls.  She will be missed by her family and friends but now is at peace with Joe by her side once again.
