Obituary

Evelyn (Main) Dean, 92, of Durham, beloved wife of Allan Dean, Sr., died Wednesday April 22, 2026, at Apple Rehabilitation in Middletown.

Evie, was born in Clinton, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Allyn and Florence (Wheeler) Main.

Prior to her retirement, Evie was employed in Central Accounting Office with the State of Connecticut.  Evie and her husband loved square dancing and was a life member of the Square Dance Foundation of New England.  She traveled all over the country, dancing and camping and making many memories along the way.  You were lucky if you ever tried her pumpkin pie, apple pie. or her famous banana oatmeal chocolate cookies.

Besides her husband, Allan, Evie, is survived by, three children, Lloyd Blair and his wife Susan of Middlefield, Kenneth Blair of Plainfield, Bryann Blair and his wife Jennifer, of North Carolina,  stepchildren Barbara Crosier and her husband Mile of Uncasville, Allan Dean, Jr., and his wife Lisa of Saybrook, Debra Flemke and her husband Edward of Saybrook, Pamela Dean of Florida, Suzie Dean of Wesbrook, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a great-great-great grandchild.   She was predeceased by two sisters, Alice Bermudez and Elsie Merrill.

Evie was never one to sit on the sidelines she was a member of Durham DTC, baking bread for the Durham Democrat booth at the Durham fair. Evie had won dozens of ribbons for her baked goods and her knitting skills, while also volunteering at the fair. Evie was a den mother for over 15 years for Cub Scouts Pack 27.

Funeral services will be held Saturday May 2nd at 11 am  at Biega Funeral Home 3 Silver Street Middletown.  Friends may gather prior to the service from 10 to 11 am.
