Middletown

Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" (Horvath) Panzironi, 95, of Middletown, wife of the late Richard R. Panzironi, died Friday August 22, 2025 at Middlesex Hospital.

She was born in Manhattan, NY, the daughter of the late Paul and Betty (Brumley) Horvath. Betty was a bus attendant at Bosce School, NY.  She was a great fan of football and always looked forward to watching her New England Patriots play. She knew the names of every football player, what teams they were on, and when they were traded. She loved watching Tom Brady and Tiger Woods.

Betty also loved going out to eat with her family. She loved the Gelston House in East Haddam, Lakeside in East Hampton, and every Asian restaurant near Middletown. She also loved playing all the different games her grandson Joe would buy her when friends & family would stop over to visit.

Betty's son remembers her as an outstanding woman who taught him everything he needed to know. She taught him right from wrong and held him accountable for his behavior and enforced the rules, making him the person he is today.  He is proud and fortunate to be raised by his extraordinary mother.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Krywinski of Middletown, Terry Gowac of Moodus, and Hillary Thompkins of Middletown; son, Richard M. Panzironi of Minneapolis, MN; ten grandchildren two great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Her favorite travel activity was visiting her grandson and family in Texas.

A Celebration of Betty's life will be held at a future date. There are no calling hours. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to the Adult Congenial Association Walk for 1 in 100, the  American Heart Association, or the CT Children's Medical Center, 282 Washington St., Hartford, CT 06106.
