Elizabeth (Zarazinska) Chlodnicki, 80, of The Villages, FL and Starksboro, VT, wife of the late Stanley Chlodnicki, died Thursday July 16, 2026. She was born in Poland, daughter of the late Wojciech and Helena (Bieganska) Zarazinski. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a Registered Nurse.

Elizabeth came to the USA in 1981 with her husband and sons. Having worked as a nurse in Warsaw Poland, she helped start up a chapter of the politically independent Solidarity trade union at her hospital. She faced pushback from senior staff and with the deteriorating political and economic situation in the then communist Poland, left in summer of 1981. Once in America she recertified her Registered Nursing license and worked at Hartford Hospital and Hospital for Special Care in New Britain. Nursing was a calling for Elizabeth, her empathy and careful mindset helped to ease the challenges that her patients faced. She took pride in her work and maintained her nursing license even after she retired.

Elizabeth treasured all her grandchildren and devoted her time to be with them. She enjoyed her retirement years through cruises around the world with her husband and friends.

Elizabeth is survived by her sons, Cas Chlodnicki of Cornwall, VT and Warsaw Poland, (whose wife , Katarzyna Chlodnicki, passed away in 2023) grandchildren Adam and Sarah of Warsaw Poland; Greg Chlodnicki and his wife Debra of Higganum, their children, Kaylee and Derek.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday August 6th at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Church, 30 St. Peters Lane, Higganum. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown. To share memories or express condolences online please visit www.biegafuneralhome.com.
