Obituary

Elaine Annette Carta of Colchester, formerly Middletown, passed away unexpectedly on December 31, 2024, at the age of 86.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Concettina (Adorno) Carta. Elaine also joins her daughter Kathleen J. Sutton and her brothers, Joseph and Louis Carta, in Heaven.

She is survived by her daughter Sharon Logiudice and husband John Logiudice,

son-in-law Paul Sutton, and grandchildren Dana Logiudice (Oliva) and husband Alex Oliva, Kyle Logiudice and fiancé Deborah Boucher, Joshua Logiudice, Autumn Sutton, and Shane Sutton.

Raised in Rockfall, she graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and received her BSN from UCONN School of Nursing. She was a dedicated registered nurse, starting her career at Middlesex Memorial Hospital in the maternity ward, and ending her career as a visiting nurse. She was highly respected by her colleagues, who often went to her for professional advice.

She was a loving mother to her daughters and devoted grandmother (Mimi) to her grandchildren, attending as many life events as she could. Whether it was a birthday, graduation, sporting event, school play, or wedding, she wanted to be there showing her support for them. Her family and her heritage were the most important things to her. She was always proud to say "I am an American of Sicilian descent!" She assisted with organizing the Annual Carta Family Picnic, since its start in the late 1980s.

Elaine enjoyed tag sales, collecting seashells on the beach, animals (especially dogs), sewing and embroidery, gardening, and camping. She was also a dedicated TOPS member and made many friendships there. She loved socializing with all her friends, as well as making new ones.

Her Funeral Liturgy will be held on Thursday January 9th at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 310 Westfield St. Middletown. Burial will follow at St. Sebastian Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday, January 8th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, CT.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Elaine's name may be made to the Lustgarten Foundation, Pancreatic Cancer Research, at www.lustgarten.org. She supported this foundation by walking annually in their 18 hole stroll in loving memory of her daughter, Kathleen J. Sutton.
