Edward (Eddie) Casimer Bak left this world to be with his wife Doris on April 9, 2025.

He was born into a family of six siblings and raised in Middletown, Connecticut by his parents Mary (Niedziela/Sunday) and Joseph Bak.  He worked summers at Lyman Orchard picking fruit as a young boy and learned the way of the world.

As he grew into a young man, his biggest regret was that he could not serve his country in the war  due to severe injuries sustained in a sledding accident at the tender age of eight which left him in the hospital for a month. Due to that accident, he suffered a permanent injury to his left arm and hand making him ineligible.

He boasted that he had one of the fastest cars in Middletown, his souped up Oldsmobile 88 Sedan, which he used to love to work on and race on Main Street.  Many others challenged him, but did not win.

Thereafter he worked at Alcap Manufacturing Company in Middletown.  He helped invent and work on water and oil lines that traveled to NASA and eventually made it to the moon.  He was also employed by E.A. Patten and Company as Vice President until his retirement.

He was a proud member and cofounder of the P.O.E.T Society (Piss On Everything Tomorrow's Friday) which met every Friday night at the Lord Cromwell restaurant in Cromwell to meet and discuss local and world matters of great importance.

He was always a daredevil and loved to fly planes (aerobatics), waterski, play golf, go to the casino and work part time in the pyrotechnic field.  His love for flying grew to the point that he flew in the Paris International Air Show twice and traveled extensively to airshows around the world.  He was very proud of his waterskiing abilities and bragged that he waterskied the Connecticut River from Middletown to Old Saybrook in a mere half hour and Lake Beseck in Middlefield on a cold day in December in his buddies wife's fur coat!!

He was a character, women charmer and confirmed bachelor until he met and married his wife Doris (Miner) in 1982 at the ripe old age of 50.  He loved his home, cats and gardens and took pride in taking care of them all.

In the last years of his life, he was lovingly cared for by his nephew Bob.  They spent happy times together at Anna's Restaurant for breakfast and many hours at the kitchen table reminiscing about the old days and discussing world events.

He is the last of the Mohegans and is pre-deceased by his wife Doris (Miner) and his seven siblings, Stanley Bak of Middletown, Raymond and Barbara Bak of Bristol, John Bak of Middletown, Stephanie and Mitch Balamucki of Middletown, Cecelia and Walter Tobias of Middlefield, Josephine Tenerowicz of Meriden and Jane and Rudolph Pavelka of Middletown.  He will be dearly missed by his numerous nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Liturgy will be held on Wednesday (April 23rd) at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 79 S. Main St., Middletown.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Middletown.  There are no calling hours.
