Obituary

Dorothy M. Alessi, 90 of Middletown, wife of the late Sebastian A. Alessi, passed away on Sunday February 25, 2024 at the Village at South Farms. She was born in Middletown, daughter of the late Alyce Sobczak.

Dorothy (Dottie) was the devoted mother to her 5 children and their families. Kimberley and husband Charles Anderson, Michael Alessi and husband Salvatore Uccello, Melyssa and husband Scott Johnson, Francene and husband Joseph Harrington, and Sebastian Alessi and partner Nicole Salafia (predeceased by).  And her grandchildren; Alexandra, Benjamin, Abigail, and Thomas.

Dottie was a lifelong resident of Middletown, graduating from Middletown High School in 1951.  While raising her family, she was employed by the City of Middletown Board of Education, cafeteria services and maintenance department. In the 1980s and 90s, Dottie was the caretaker of the high school on Hunting Hill Avenue.

Dottie enjoyed reading, traveling, trips to the casino and watching the UCONN Women's Basketball team. The constant in her life was the standing Rumire Game with the "card players" that spanned over 50 years of friendship.

While living at the Village at South Farms, Dottie continued to make friends, banter with the staff and bestow her suggestions to everyone. Her family is grateful to the staff and residents of the Village at South Farms for the friendship and support. Dottie will be remembered as a strong determined woman, and to quote Frank Sinatra, "I did it My Way".
