Diane (Dobrowolski) Ziomek, 82, of Middletown, wife of the late John J. Ziomek, Sr., passed away peacefully on Friday November 8, 2024, at Middlesex Hospital.

She was born in New Britain, daughter of the late Francis H. and Genevieve (Lukowski) Dobrowolski. Prior to her retirement, she worked for the Middletown Board of Education as a secretary at Keigwin Middle School. Early on, she worked at Jacobs Manufacturing in Elmwood where she met her one and only true love John. She had a love for hydrangea flowers, hummingbirds, Dunkin' Donuts iced coffee, Mohegan Sun, Westbrook Beach, shopping, and making chocolate chip cookies.

Diane is survived by her daughter, Alison Giantonio and her husband Michael of Middletown; grandsons, Tommy and Jeffrey Woodcock, and Johnny Ziomek, all in Middletown; sister and best friend Marilyn Elwell of Portland; sister Gloria Meickle and her husband John of Newington; brother Alan Dobrowolski and his wife Roz of East Hampton; brother/sister-in law Stanley and Jeannie Ziomek of Middletown; her beloved grand-dog Bella Rose; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John Ziomek, Sr., her son John "JJ" Ziomek, Jr., her sister Christine Kolej, and her brother Jack Shappy.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 14th from 4 to 6:30 p.m., with a Words of Remembrance Service starting at 6:30 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Street, Middletown.  Burial at Calvary Cemetery will be at the convenience of her family.
