Obituary

David Charles Footit, 58, of Middlefield, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 20, 2025. He was born on April 18,1967, to Charles and Lorraine (Markiewicz) Footit of Middlefield.

David began his education in Middlefield before transferring to Woodrow Wilson High School to participate in the FFA program. He became part of the first graduating class of the New Middletown High School in 1985. His first job was Sanstorm and Koleman Farm of Middlefield. After high school, he worked at Agway in Middlefield. He met Kirsten Kruger, the mother of his daughters, and together they founded D&K Farm. They farmed for 13 years. He devoted much of his life to caring for and milking cows, while also cultivating a strong passion for working the land and witnessing the results of his labor. Later in his life, he stayed involved in agriculture, making deliveries for Uncle Bob's Flower and Garden and harvesting hay during the summer. In the winter, he worked for his cousin, Eddie Bystrek, delivering for Bystrek Oil.

David was a down-to-earth man who lived life to the fullest. He was often seen hanging out with friends, a beer in hand. A true outdoorsman, he found his deepest peace in the woods, whether hunting whitetail deer or fishing. He loved reminiscing about the wild situations he had found himself in or the big deer he had tracked down. His passion also included cooking, baking pies, canning pickles, and making salsa. He loved escaping for a few days to unwind at his parents' camp in the mountains of New Hampshire. David was well-known for his charismatic personality and quick wit, always having a smile on his face. He was cherished by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him and will be deeply missed.

He leaves behind two daughters, Rachel (Brett) Footit of Morrowville, KS, and Victoria (Ross) Footit of St. Johnsbury, VT. He is survived by his parents, Charles and Lorriane Footit, Middlefield, CT and brother Scott (Eva) Footit, Berlin, CT. He is also survived by an uncle and two aunts along with a nephew and many nieces. He is also survived by his dear friend, Donna Dellaripa, Griswold, CT. He is predeceased in death by his brother, Ronald Footit, cousin, Joel Bailey, his four uncles, paternal grandparents, Charles and Anna Footit and maternal grandparents, Walter and Mildred Markiewicz.
