In loving memory of Daniel A. Winkler, Jr. beloved husband, father, and friend. Dan passed away on June 15, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. He was born in Milford, CT. in 1938. He leaves his wife of 24 years, Sandra (Stawski) Winkler, and family, Debra Winkler, James Winkler, Timothy Winkler, Susan Barrett, and Laurence Winkler and also grandchildren and great grandchildren.

"Join the Navy and see the world" is exactly what Dan did as an Engineer in the U.S. Navy, seeing the world, including his family spending time in England, is exactly what he did. After seeing the world and retiring as a Navy Petty Officer First Class, E-6. He shortly returned to the Naval Base as a civilian in Groton, CT where he managed the Hobby Shop. He also worked within the Town of Plainville until he fully retired.

Dan will be remembered for his willingness to help everyone. He and other family members especially enjoyed planning and preparing Christmas meals for many years at First Church of Christ Hall in Middletown. He also could play a great Santa Claus. He loved traveling with his wife throughout the US and abroad. He enjoyed working with Charlie repairing small engines. Dan was a member of the Masonic Washington Lodge #19 in Monroe, CT and USS Fulton Association II.

Calling Hours are on Thursday June 23, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, followed by a 7 pm service at Biega Funeral Home in Middletown. Burial will be on June 24, 2022 at 11:00 am at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Vincent DePaul, 617 Main St., Middletown, CT.
