Christine Briggs, beloved wife of the late Walter Briggs, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, in Maine. Christine was born on September 8, 1941, in Middletown, Connecticut, to the late William and Agnes (Stankowski) Zeleznicky. She grew up in Moodus, CT where she graduated from Nathan Hale Ray High School.

Family meant everything to Christine. She cherished spending time with her loved ones and looked forward to attending church with them on Saturdays. She will be remembered for her love, kindness, and devotion to her family. She enjoyed traveling, shopping and attending the Sun women’s basketball games.

Christine and Walter were happily married for 29 years. She worked for the East Haddam Elementary School as a para-professional in kindergarten for 38 years. She enjoyed assisting the children in their educational growth. She also taught catechism classes on Saturdays for 41 years. She was an active member of the St. Bridget’s Ladies Guild right up until she passed.

Christine is survived by her three children, William, Elizabeth, and Margaret Briggs, all of Moodus, CT. She was predeceased by her sister Theresa Brown. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Zeleznicky, his wife Monica, their daughter Laura, her husband Andrew Race and their children Hana and William.

A wake will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at St. Bridget’s Church in Moodus, followed by a Funeral Mass. Burial will take place after the mass at St Bridget’s Cemetery.
