Charlene L. Sloan (Schneider), of Farmington, CT, beloved wife of the late George W. Sloan, Jr., passed away surrounded by her family on August 30, 2024, just seven weeks after her beloved husband's passing. She was born on October 2, 1936 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She was a proud Wisconsinite throughout her life. After graduating high school, Char moved to Chicago with her sister Carole, where she met the love of her life, George, by chance, at a USO dance, and married shortly thereafter.  They settled into their home in Enfield, CT and later in East Hampton, CT where they raised their two sons.

Education was important to Charlene and she attained a business degree while working full-time. She was employed by Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company in Haddam Neck where she worked in finance. Her favorite day of the week was Friday when she could head to her family's vacation home in North Truro, MA.  Her grandchildren have fond memories of blueberry picking for her pancakes, bike riding and days spent at the National Seashore. She was a force in the kitchen always having something delicious prepared for her family. One of their favorite winter getaways was spending time in Jekyll Island, GA with dear friends.

Charlene enjoyed Saturday morning tag sales, planning her route the night before and had a keen eye for a "good find".  She was a proud member of the Webster Hill Garden Club in West Hartford, CT where she made many friends and enjoyed maintaining their butterfly garden. One of her greatest talents was her creation of beautiful Irish knit sweaters that her family will cherish for generations. Char always had knitting needles in her hands.

Charlene was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.  Her dear sister Carole (John) Hypes pre-deceased her. She leaves behind her son Mark (Kate) of Charlestown, RI and Michael (Lynn) of Pine Bush, NY; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Patrick, Daniel, Robert, Meghan and Justin and four great-grandchildren, Emily, Matthew, Patrick and Harper, as well as dear nieces in MN & WI.  Burial and services will be private.
