Betty Rybczyk Drag, 101, of Middletown, wife of the late Stephen J. Drag, died Monday, June 12, 2023. She was born in Middletown, daughter of the later Peter and Helen (Mozdzierz) Rybczyk.
She is survived by son Thomas (Carol) Drag of Ivoryton, daughters Christine (Steven) Collier of Old Saybrook, and Theresa (Lewis) Walden of Poultney, VT. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Allison (Matt) Clark and their three children Jack, Taylor, and Shane; Shawn (Laura) Drag and their son Tommy; Amy Collier; Heather (Kevin) McHugh and their son Conor, and soon-to-be daughter, Olivia; Christopher Donovan; and Dylan (Jessica) Walden and their daughter Lucelia. She is also survived by her sister, Agnes, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters and four brothers.
Betty was employed at Verplex and later at E. E. Dickinson and Company before retiring. She lived an incredible life with many achievements, including being a Red Cross Nurse's Aide during World War II, an avid duck pin bowler, and a member of the St. Mary's Ladies' Guild. Aside from her family, she loved the Red Sox, UCONN basketball, anything sweet, and her church, St. Mary's of Czestochowa.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 21, at 9:15 a.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. Mary's of Czestochowa, 79 South Main St., Middletown. Burial will be held at the State Veterans' Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 20, from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please take somebody you love out for breakfast.
