Bernard Edward Pudvah, 85, of Middletown, beloved husband of Carol (Collette) Pudvah, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2026, at Middlesex Hospital. Born in Westbrook, Maine, he was the son of the late Bernard James and Mary (Robinson) Pudvah. Bernard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he built a long career at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, where he worked as a drafter and later as an inspector until his retirement.
Bernard found great joy in the outdoors and took immense pride in caring for his yard and gardens. A dedicated gardener, he was especially known for his tomatoes, which family, friends, and neighbors looked forward to each season and will miss dearly. He was also an accomplished bowler whose passion for the sport earned him multiple perfect games. At the height of his bowling career, he was among the top bowlers in his league.
Bernard and Carol shared a love of travel, particularly their trips to Florida, where they created many cherished memories together. They also enjoyed years of square dancing throughout Connecticut, a hobby that brought them friendship, fun, and adventure. Earlier in life, Bernard enjoyed fishing in the Adirondack Mountains, where he found peace and relaxation in nature. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family and those he loved.
Bernard is survived by his loving wife, Carol; his son, Bernard William Pudvah, and wife, Beth Anderson, of Portland, and their son, Bernard Anders; as well as his daughter, Samantha Wimpe, her husband, James, and their children, Camille and Spencer.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday October 6th from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St. Middletown. Burial with military honors will follow at the State Veterans’ Cemetery.
