Barbara R.
Monarca
Jul 13, 1945 — Nov 8, 2023
Uncasville
On Wednesday, November 8, 2023, Barbara R. Monarca of Uncasville, creative spirit and fun-loving wife, mother of two, grandmother of 4 and great-grandmother of 3, passed away at the age of 78.
Barbara grew up in Portland and was a long-time resident of Middletown, Colchester and Lebanon. She was the daughter of the late, Richard S. Randall, Sr. and Catherine (Bean) Randall. She married her soulmate Salvatore Monarca in 1965, and they were inspiring examples of how to live a fun-filled life with your true love to their two children Kelly Paige (wife of Todd Paige) of Groton, and Michael Monarca (partner of Aziz El Badaoui) of Princeton, NJ.
Always quick with her wit, ready for the next adventure, and continuously providing an example of making lemonade out of life's lemons, she never shied away from a challenge in front of her. A lover of all things in the sun and on the water, her most favorite times were spent boating on Block Island. She enjoyed gardening and crafting, and all things creative …except maybe cooking! Certain there was a treasure hidden in a bin at the next consignment shop or in a roadside furniture pile, she never missed an opportunity to hunt for a bargain …"Sal, pull over, there's a tag sale!" A true believer in finding life's joys, nobody enjoyed laughing at her jokes more than she did!
Prior to her retirement, Barbara an Administrator with Middlesex Professional Services, The American College of Surgeons and spent many years working in medical administration at Middlesex Memorial Hospital.
Besides her husband and children, Barbara is survived by her brother Robert Randall of Port Charlotte, FL. She adored being Grammy to her four grandchildren, Christopher Paige and his wife, Kacee, Bethany Pace and her husband, Stephen, Alyssa Cassidy and her husband, Ryan, Michael Paige and his wife, Mackenzie, and three great-grandchildren, Reagan Cassidy, Dominic Paige and Anthony Pace. She was the favorite, fun-loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard S. Randall, Jr. and a sister, Judy White.
