Aura Claire (Frechette) Petzold, 96, formerly of Middletown, died on Friday August 5, 2022 at Chestelm Health and Rehabilitation Center in Moodus.
She was the daughter of the late Israel Frechette and Orena Roberts. She grew up in Putman, CT and graduated from Putnam High School. She moved to Middletown as a young adult and resided in Middletown most of her life. She was employed as a manager of Young's Office Supplies in Middletown, and later as a customer service specialist at Citizen's Bank in Cromwell.
She was artistically talented and taught ceramic classes at Garvin's Ceramics in Portland and later in her home. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending the winters in Florida, returning to Connecticut in the spring.
She is survived by her son, Lawrence Gevry, Jr., and his wife, Diane, of Higganum; four grandchildren: Allen Gevry and his wife, Tracey, of Londonderry, NH; David Gevry and his wife, Rasma, of Fanwood, NJ; Thomas Gevry of Higganum; and Elizabeth Goodrich and her husband, Calvin of Coventry, RI; two great grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. During her long life, she was widowed several times and was predeceased by her husbands; Lawrence Gevry, Sr., John Valeri, William Kitson, and William Petzold, Sr. She was also predeceased by her five sisters and three brothers.
Her Funeral Liturgy will be held Wednesday (Aug. 10 th ) at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Church, Higganum. Burial will be in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Rockfall. Friends may call at St. Peter Church on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send memorial contributions to St. Peter Church, PO Box 707, Higganum, CT 06441 or the Haddam Emergency Fuel Bank, c/o Haddam Social Services, 11 Jail Hill Rd., Haddam, CT 06438.
