Anthony Michael Len, 52, of Colchester, beloved husband of Amy (Baird) Len, passed away on Thursday January 30, 2025, at his home. In July of 1972 his parents, Stephen and Joyce (Sawaryn) Len, and brother Darrell Len of Salem celebrated his birth.
Tony's love of cleanliness and organization was quickly realized as he polished and parked his toy trucks like a dealership. Tony attended Salem Elementary school where he made the first of many lifelong friends. He was at home in the woods riding dirt bikes and camping out. This led to racing motocross from age 11-17, sponsored by Manchester Honda, he won many trophies and accolades. He also won many races escaping his parents trying to get him to come home and several local police officers for trespassing on private property and road riding. He did not receive trophies for those races. Tony continued his love of riding throughout his life owning several sport bikes and his cherished Harley Softail Custom.
Tony had a passion for Tractor Trailers and trucking starting when his Dad took him along for rides in his Mack and when he saw the movie Smokey and the Bandit at age 5. He started with building toy models that grew over the years into buying and modifying his own 379 Peterbilt. Against the odds he was a successful owner operator for many years and saw the country over the hood of his long nose Pete. He used this opportunity to see many of the National Parks and scenic roads throughout the country. He did not pick up Coors beer for Big Enos Burdette. He did, however, meet several county mounties over the years. Tony had close to 2 million safe miles. He finished his trucking career driving for UPS. He loved wearing his UPS browns and being part of the Teamsters local 671.
In October of 2001 he met his Frog and soulmate, Amy Baird Len. They spent 24 years having fun, traveling, and bickering over why a master mechanic, fabricator and Class A truck driver could not operate the washer and dryer or load a dishwasher correctly. Tony left her his prize collection of tools, gadgets and parts including one labelled "I don't know what this goes too".  Tony also had a love for classic hot rods starting at age 14 when he bought his 65 mustang Fastback that he has kept for 38 years. He had bought and sold several other classic cars over the years and roasted the tires off all of them.
Tony was an adventurous adrenaline junky that was always happy and loved to make people laugh at his crazy antics. He found humor and laughter could get us through even the toughest times. If you went for a ride with him, you never know where you would end up or who you would meet but it was always a great time, except maybe the time he tried to use his ford escort as a boat.  Tony was a kind, loving, genuine and generous person that helped others when they needed it and was always available to talk to or give unsolicited advice at 3 a.m.
Tony loved his family above all else. He will be greatly missed by his parents, love of his life Amy, his Aunt Kristina Len (Ralph) of Lyme CT, Uncle Peter Len (Ann) of Lyndon WA, Uncle Micheal Sawaryn of Niantic. Mother-in-law Yolanda Baird of East Haddam Sister-in-Law Darlene Baird of Colchester. He leaves his nieces and nephews that he felt were like his own children, Matthew Lajoie (Stephanie) Christine Lajoie (Josh), Samantha Landon, Ryan Baird, and godson Ethan Len. He also leaves his cousins that he shared a special bond with.
A Celebration of Life will be held June 27, 2025, from 4:00 to 10:00 pm at the Farm at Carter Hill in Marlborough. Please drive your hot-rods, motorcycles and big trucks, tractors only. "10-4"
