Ann Marie
Masselli
Oct 12, 1936 — Jan 8, 2025
Portland
Ann Marie (Galiette) Masselli, 88, of Portland, wife of the late Joseph Masselli, died Wenesday, January 8, 2025, at Portland Care and Rehabilitation. Ann was born in Bristol, CT the daughter of the late, Silvio and Mary (Coletto) Galiette.
Prior to her retirement, Ann was employed as a teacher at Mercy and Xavier High School in Middletown and served as the musical director for both schools. She also held the position of organist and choir director at St. Mary Church of Portland for 25 years.
Passion is a word that described Ann's life. She was passionate about her music as she began playing the piano at 6 years old, and never stopped despite many challenges. She loved teaching and had a natural ability to transfer knowledge in a warm and welcoming environment. There is nothing she was more passionate about than her family, friends, and her faith. Those close to her acknowledge that her commitment to positive thinking and her "never give up attitude" is a life lesson that we have all embraced. Her love for her husband, children, siblings, family, and friends was limitless. Anyone who was fortunate to know Ann realizes that their lives were better because she was in the world.
Ann is survived by her sons, John J. Masselli and his husband Archie Pitsilides of Lubbock, TX and Michael S. Masselli and his wife Cathy of Portland; daughters, Rose Marie Morse of Portland and Maria A. Wilcox of Middletown; eight grandchildren; Nicholas, Joshua, Anthony, Jennifer, Alexa, Gina, Jocelyn and Brian, and three great granddaughters; Murphy, Petra, and Rae; her brother-in-law, George from Newington; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Maureen J. Zory, two brothers Stephen and Joseph Galiette, and son-in-law, Richard P. Morse.
