Obituary

Angelo William "Bill" Ranno, 88, of Middletown, beloved husband of the late Janet Frances (LeVasseur) Ranno, died Tuesday, July 18th, 2023 at Middlesex Hospital with family by his side.

Angelo was the youngest of ten, born on November 14th, 1934 in Middletown, CT. He is predeceased by his parents, Giuseppe "Joseph" and Sebastiana "Anna" (LaBella) Ranno who arrived from Melilli, Italy in 1911. He is also predeceased by his six brothers, Joseph, James, Louis, Michael, Salvatore, and John, and his three sisters, Anna, Carmelina, and Josephina.

Following his graduation from Middletown High School, Bill remained active in his Class of 1954, assisting in planning reunions decades later. Bill worked in the medical supply field at Pelton's and Industrial Safety Supply Co. in Hartford, in addition to owning Medco Medical Supplies with his wife on Farm Hill Road, Middletown. Following his career, he worked as a lunch aide in many Middletown elementary schools and teaching catechism at St. Pius X Church. He spent his life raising his daughters and granddaughters on Fowler Ave., Middletown. Bill enjoyed making fried dough, playing Bingo, traveling to Maine with his wife for his favorite hot dog, and spending weekends at his daughters' homes- always getting in trouble for feeding the dogs under the table. Later in his life, Bill grew to love his home at Luther Ridge, where he was actively involved.

Bill was predeceased by his loving wife, Janet, whom passed on September 11th, 2014. Bill and Jan enjoyed spending time at their condo in Deerfield Beach, FL, vacationing in Hawaii, and driving cross country to Texas. Having been married on June 7, 1958, they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary before her passing; their "Endless Love" will now carry on as they reunite in Heaven.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Barbara Ann Ranno and Tina Marie Ranno Patterson, and her husband Michael Patterson, in addition to his three grandchildren, Kyla Frances and Tatym Margaret Kachinsky, and Ardyn Nicole Lezak, to whom he was known as "Poppa." He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and their children. Bill also adored his grand-dogs Lola, Mya, Novalee, Bear and Coby, in addition to numerous pets before them. His family's love goes with him until they meet again. The family would like to thank Denise Ranno for her compassion and constant support, Patrick Danis for giving a beautiful voice to our heartfelt eulogy, Chris Yee, APRN at Middlesex Hospital Hospice for his caring presence, and Crystal, his wonderful friend and confidant.
