Allan Chu, 86, of Middlefield, husband of Yong Sun (Yi) Chu, passed away on Tuesday January 30, 2024 at John Dempsey Hospital, Farmington, blessed with his wife, all his children and grandchildren and close family members by his side.

He was born in Canton, China, the son of the late Yiuchau and Yukam (Kwong) Chu. Allan was the longtime owner of Debbie Wong Restaurant in Middletown. He was baptized at Chinese Baptist Church of Greater Hartford.  Allan loved dancing, always enjoyed good food and movies. What he loved most was having dim sum with all his children and grandchildren. Allan was loving, resourceful and generous, always willing to help. He will be missed for his humorous jokes, pompous way and passion for food.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Stella Tse (Lucas), Xenia Wong (Douglas), Belle Chu (Roy Nhan), Teddy Chu (Elle), Mandy Sze (Joseph), Linda Chu, and Andrew Chu (Sharon Lam); sisters, Helen Wong and Lynn Chan; six grandchildren, Lester Tse, Leon Tse (Laura), Kelly Nhan, Nathan Nhan, Brandon Sze and Caitlin Sze; his former wife, Amy Chu; many cousins, nieces, nephews and their children. He was predeceased by a brother, Jackson Chu.

Funeral services and burial at Indian Hill Cemetery are private. A memorial service to celebrate Allan's life, open to everyone, will be held on Thursday (Feb. 8th) at 4 p.m. at Chinese Baptist Church of Greater Hartford, 160 Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield.
