Obituary

Albert "Al" Jacob, 86, of Middletown, beloved husband of the late Jeanne (Bennett) Jacob and the late Rosemarie (Cantwell) Jacob, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Hartford Hospital.

Born in Middletown, Al was the son of the late Samuel C. Jacob, Sr. and Mary (Ident) Jacob. Before his retirement, he worked as a truck driver for the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation.

Al was a proud life member and former Exalted Ruler of B.P.O.E. Lodge 771 in Middletown. He also served on the board at Rivers Edge, where he was a past president and longtime member of the Social Committee. Known as the "Greeter of River Edge," Al was always ready with a warm smile and friendly word for everyone he met.

He especially enjoyed card nights at the Elks Lodge and Rivers Edge and loved taking friends out to dinner. A devoted UConn basketball fan and self-proclaimed fair-weather Yankees supporter, Al brought humor and heart to every gathering.

He is survived by his two stepsons, Joseph Rybczyk, Jr. and Daniel Rybczyk, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Samuel C. Jacob, Jr., and sisters, Francis M. Bernreuther and Patricia Kelly.
