Adella (Szpakowski) Filanda, 93, of Middletown, wife of the late Peter Filanda, died Monday, July 18, 2022, at her home with family at her side.

Adella was born in (Middlefield,) daughter of the late, Vincent and Anna (Muzen) Szapowski.  Prior to her retirement, Adella was employed by State of Connecticut V.A. services as a dietary supervisor.  She was a Communicant of Saint Francis of Assisi Church.

Adella is survived by, a son Michael Filanda and his wife Donna of East Hampton, a daughter, Bonnie Weller of Middletown, three grandchildren, Michael Weller, Lynn Filanda, Laura Filanda, a sister, Kay Greco, of Middletown. Adella was predeceased by a son Paul Filanda, four sisters, Mary Ressler, Veronica Fazzino, Bernice Russo, Sophie Novak, and five brothers, Wally, Stanley, Joseph, Peter, Vincent and Walter Szpakowski.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held Thursday July 28, 2022 at 11a.m., at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, Elm Street Middletown.  Friends may visit with her family at St. Francis of Assisi Church on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.   Burial will be in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield.  Memorial Contributions may be sent to St. Francis of Assis Church, 10 Elm Street.
