Clinton Chester Holcomb, 88, of Moodus and formerly of Norwalk passed away from his life on Wednesday August 1, 2012.
He was born October 1, 1923 in Watervliet, New York, the son of the late Clinton W. and Mildred (Oathut) Holcomb. He grew up and lived most of his life at Marvin Beach in Norwalk, CT. Clinton was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, serving as a communications operator on the aircraft USS Santee, for which he was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation among many other honors and distinctions.
He had a passion for swimming, was an avid stamp collector, and a New York Yankees fan.
He is survived by his wife Marion (Gomola) Holcomb of Moodus; his daughter, Kimberly (Holcomb) Dodge and her husband Ed of Moodus; his son, C. Peter Holcomb and his wife Laurie of New Hartford; his grandchildren, Dylan J. Ryan, Shiloh A. Dodge, Mathew R. Holcomb and Abby Holcomb; a niece and several nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Clifford L. and Benjamin O. Holcomb. He was dearly loved.
Graveside services with military honors will be held Saturday at 12 p.m. at First Church Cemetery, Town St., Moodus. There are no calling hours.
