Donald Imlah, 77, of Markham St., Middletown, husband of Rachel Crawford Imlah, died Saturday May 19, 2012 at Middlesex Hospital after battling ALS. He was born in Reedsport, OR, the son of the late Dwaine and Myrtle Imlah. Prior to his retirement, Don was a construction coordinator with the State of CT Department of Public Works. He will be remembered for his love of travel and exploring, fishing, scuba diving, and photography as well as good movies and books. Don's grandmother was from the northern tribe of Cheyenne Indians, which strongly influenced his lifetime interest in and production of diverse tribal arts and crafts such as wooden duck carving, antler carving, scrimshaw, leatherwork, mandelas and dream catchers, and interpretive paintings of totem pole figures. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Hayes of Utah and Gabrielle Raviolo of Oregon, and a sister, Patricia Godwin, of Oregon. Funeral services are private and burial will be at the convenience of his family. There are no calling hours. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to the Humane Society.
